Communications Coordinator

 

NQTTCN’s Communications Coordinator will develop and implement our communications strategy using our website, newsletter, blog and social media. They will use communications to build community, share resources, and generate discussion related to the mental health needs of queer and trans people of color (QTPOC) and the unique needs of healing practitioners from this community. The Communications Coordinator will clarify and amplify NQTTCN’s unique voice related to QTPOC mental health through curating and creating content, managing NQTTCN’s social media platforms, engaging network providers, and managing our website.

 

The Communications Coordinator must possess a good working knowledge of best practices in digital and social media marketing and previous experience with web content management.

 

This is a part-time position, 30 hours/month.

Responsibilities

Content Creation and Curation

  • Develop/write content for website, flyers, brochures, social media and monthly newsletter.

  • Develop and implement communications strategy.

  • Create and manage NQTTCN’s blog. 

 

Social Media Management

  • Develop a social media plan to increase engagement across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

  • Administer public NQTTCN page and closed Facebook group.

  • Promote NQTTCN’s events, fundraisers, webinars, and other activities.

 

Website Management

  • Ensure the website is accurate, accessible, representative of NQTTCN's work, and engaging to community members.

  • Develop and implement plan to build new website with web designer in 2019/2020.

  • Update website on a regular basis.

 

Admin/Evaluation

  • Respond to questions, concerns and requests in a timely fashion.

  • Serve as point of contact for media inquiries.

  • Develop an evaluation plan to track engagement with social media, website, newsletter, blog, etc.

  • Establish clear goals and objectives for increasing engagement across all platforms.

 

Fundraising

  • Participate in grassroots fundraising campaigns 2-3 times/year.

  • Collaborate with Founding Director to develop content to fundraise through various online platforms including NQTTCN’s social media, website, and newsletter.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent writing, copy editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Experience managing communications across various digital medium.

  • Effective communicator, collaborator, and coordinator, with strong organizational skills.

  • Bilingual in Spanish & English (preferred).

  • Background in mental health and/or healing justice preferred.

  • Experience working with queer and trans people of color.

  • Comfortable working independently as well as on teams.

NQTTCN is based in Oakland, CA but our team works virtually. We welcome applicants who live outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. Some travel required for staff meetings, events, etc. Queer and trans people of color strongly encouraged to apply.
